It was abrupt, like a flipped being switched, an entire community cut off without notice, or so the reports would have you believe.
Some were in disbelief, some in denial, some insisted it would come back. But now, February of 2026 with still radio silence, it is becoming clear that the once popular community is gone forever.
One of my earliest fandoms are there, artworks never to be recovered and posts that couldn't be found anywhere else.
I wished I knew. Maybe I could have archived some of them. Ahh but it is too late now is it? I just hope someone made an archive somewhere. Maybe we can pick up the pieces.
This is a reminder of how ephemeral the internet can be. So many things can change in an instant. Reminds me of that feeling when wetpaint/wikifoundry shuts down and with it, took down so many fandom works that were never archived properly. It seems we are doomed to always repeat this cycle of loss. Hmmm 🤔
